Welcome to New York Times and Sunday Times best seller Brandon Sanderson’s first collection of short fiction.
These wonderful works, originally published individually, have been collected for the first time and convey the true expanse of the Cosmere. Telling the exciting tales of adventure Sanderson fans have come to expect, Arcanum Unbounded includes the Hugo Award-winning novella The Emperor’s Soul and the never-before-published Stormlight Archive novella Edgedancer.
The collection includes nine works in all:
Edgedancer (Stormlight Archive) ‘The Hope of Elantris’ (Elantris) ‘The Eleventh Metal’ (Mistborn) The Emperor’s Soul (Elantris) ‘Allomancer Jak and the Pits of Eltania’ (excerpt, Mistborn) ‘Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell’ (Threnody) ‘Sixth of Dusk’ (First of the Sun) ‘Mistborn: Secret History’ (Mistborn)
This superb collection also includes essays which offer insight into the numerous worlds in which the stories are set.
Really enjoyed Edgedancer! As with all of Brandon Sanderson’s work, this one is fantastic. The collection of old and new cosmere stories is wonderful. The Allomancer Jak story was a lot of fun to read, just be sure to read the footnotes. The culmination of the work, Edgedancer, was a great look into other things happening on Roshar and Lift is a very enjoyable character.Â
I’d be so happy! These stories are so interesting with complex characters … I wish I was in your position and hadn’t already read most of these stories. If I could wipe my memory and read these stories fresh again, I’d be so happy! These stories are so interesting with complex characters and excellent settings. This would be a great way to introduce someone to Brandon’s Cosmere universe for Christmas!
Sanderson Delivers! Sanderson is best known for writing HUGE fantasy novels. Brandon Sanderson is a born winner. It seems everything he tries his hand at is a home run! That is the case with this collection of shorts. I had already read every entry here with the exception of the new Stormlight Archive story Edgedancer. Stormlight is already my favorite series running right now. Will just say I have read the current books a couple of times. 🙂Â
