  1. You Have to earn the ‘Stars’ In any series, a capable First Mate can be invited to sit for the Captain’s boards. Maybe they pass, maybe not- but when successful, what now? Canny ship owners will offer this person a test case. Like a ship where the losers of the sector have been given their last chance. Did I say that it also has lousy profit sharing? So it is doubly demoralized.

  2. Worth the wait Those of you faithfully following the progress of mr. Lowell as he struggles to turn out these magnificent books on written format can sigh with relief. Finally the next installment is here and it is good! It’s the same sort of story we all know and love and yet it brings new depth to the Solar Clipper tales.

  3. Great series I read the latest Ishmael Wang story while working on an offshore supply vessel off the coast of Malaysia, so believe me when I say that these books really capture the essence of a seaman’s (or starman’s) life.
