When Judge Rosswell Carew makes the gruesome discovery of two corpses on a river bank in the Missouri Ozarks, he’s plunged into a storm of deadly secrets that threaten both him and his fiancee, Tina Parkmore. Unsatisfied with the way the authorities are conducting the investigation, Rosswell, who’s always nurtured a secret desire to be a detective, teams up with an ex-con, Ollie Groton, to solve the case before the killer can murder again. Rosswell uncovers a maze of crimes so tangled that he must fight his way to a solution or die trying.
“I am on Facebook with over 2K followers and also on Twitter, plus I have a website and a blog. I go to several writers conferences each year and have presented at various conferences in the last couple of years.”

Intriguing central character Judge Rosswell Carew discovers two corpses on a river bank in the Missouri Ozarks while out on a photography jaunt to capture mushrooms. Because he finds the bodies, he’s the prime suspect of the dim cop first on the scene. He’s not satisfied with the way the investigation is going, so he steps in to find out whodunit, at what turns out to be great personal cost.Â
Bleh. I couldn’t find a single character I wanted to root for. It wasn’t merely that I didn’t feel all warm and fuzzy about them. I found them actively annoying and empty-headed. The lead character seems too dense to have ever gained a seat on the bench, and the entire shtick about his love for the ex-cheerleader lands with a resoundingly pervy/juvenile thud — it’s as though the author’s high school fantasies are leaking out. The sheriff is a twit, and not in an entertainingly humorous way…
Just not invested enough to continue. Hmmmmmmm…let’s see,Â
