Evelyn Tester is sleepwalking through her suburban life―until a late-night phone call startles her awake. Her husband, a prestigious psychiatrist, has been in an accident. And he isn’t alone.

Suddenly Evelyn’s world isn’t as tidy as she thought. And in the midst of it all is Juliette, not only her husband’s secret lover but also his patient. If news of the affair were to get out, it would ruin more than just Evelyn’s marriage. Although it’s a bitter pill for Evelyn to swallow, protecting her family means staying silent―even if, as she begins to discover, the night of the accident has consequences far more dangerous than the unmasking of an affair.

But the more Evelyn learns about Juliette’s picture-perfect life―complete with a handsome, unsuspecting husband―the more she yearns for revenge…and satisfaction. Her growing obsession fuels her rage, burning away her complacency. What will be left of her after it flames out?

  1. COMING-OF-AGE novel of a 41-year-old “nothing” wife I admire this author for her 25-plus successful novels penned under her name Victoria Helen Stone. In this novel she tries a different genre–“darker side of genre fiction.” But what is that genre?

  2. Probably would have liked it if it were categorized properly SPOILERS AHEAD. Like another reviewer mentioned, this was marketed as psychological thriller/suspense, and the first third of the book did provide that. But towards the midway point it just sunk a lot into the midlife crisis the main character was going through. Lots of agonizing introspection, not very suspenseful or thrilling at all. I skipped to the end and there was a kind of twist, but it really wasn’t all that shocking given what we know about that character. Lots of sex and body image…

  3. Romance story — Great Descriptions, Okay Plot Billed on the Kindle First page as a psychological suspense story, “Evelyn, After” would fit in nicely on a bookshelf with other Harlequin romance novels. If you are a fan of that genre, you will probably enjoy this book. Here is a quick review, without spoilers:
