Who are you when no one is watching?
When beloved high school student Lucinda Hayes is found murdered, no-one in her sleepy Colorado suburb is untouched – not the boy who loved her too much; not the girl who wanted her perfect life; not the police officer assigned to investigate. In the aftermath of the tragedy, these three indelible characters – Cameron, Jade, and Russ – must each confront their darkest secrets in an effort to find solace, the truth, or both.
In crystalline prose, Danya Kukafka explores the razor-sharp line between love and obsession, between watching and seeing, between reality and memory. Intoxicating and emotionally intense, Girl in Snow is a gripping debut novel that will linger long after the final chapter.
Is Cameron a Boo Radley, or a John Wayne Gacy? “’You can only see fifty-nine percent of the moon from the earth’s surface. No matter where you go, in the entire world, you’ll only see the same face. That fifty-nine percent.’Â
super dark, but worth the hype There are very few novels that I think deserve all the “advance praise” that comes along with them, but “Girl in Snow” is one of them. I picked this up because the description reminded me of “Lovely Bones.” I’m normally not a fan of stories about young people being murdered, but sometimes a good book is worth being uncomfortable with the mystery at the center of it.Â
twists and turns Loved the book. Grabs you from the start
