In this novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts, diamonds can be a girl’s best friend…or her worst enemy.
She couldn’t remember a thing, not even who she was. But it was clear Bailey James was in trouble. Big trouble. And she desperately needed private eye Cade Parris to help her find out just what kind. Surely she wasn’t a criminal―but then what on earth was she doing with a bag full of cash and a stunning blue diamond as big as a baby’s fist?
Cade Parris takes one look at the beautiful blond that walks unannounced into his office and falls in love. Unfortunately, the stunning woman is there to hire the handsome private investigator to find a missing person: herself. Fragile and clearly vulnerable, Bailey James doesn’t even know her own name. Nor does she know why she’s carrying a tote bag filled with more than a million dollars in cash, a pistol, and a priceless blue diamond. Fortunately for Cade’s heart, Bailey is as undeniably drawn to him as he is to her. However, neither of them know if she’s free to give her heart. Together they search for clues to her identity in the sweltering heat of Washington, D.C., in July, but unveiling Bailey’s past is hopelessly entwined with the mystery of the diamond, the cash, and the gun. Before Cade can claim Bailey as his own, they must follow a twisted path to a killer and survive a life-threatening attack.
Nora Roberts begins another trilogy. As usual, it’s tough to put down a NR book. And all of the elements are there. Good looking couple who are instantly attracted to each other, a mystery to solve, and a hook into a bigger story, so that books 2 and 3 will be big hits also. Formula works as always, and this is another story based around gems and three strong women.
Amnesia, over a million cash, a priceless blue diamond and a gun are all the clues that start this mystery. A good read. Bailey James walked into PI Cade Parris’ office with a bag of money, a 38 cal. gun and a very large blue diamond. Problem is she has no memory of who she is or how she came to be in possession of these things. Cade is instantly in love with her and she feels a very strong attraction to him.Â
This is a good, quick summer read This is a good, quick summer read. Not as good as some of Nora Roberts previous books but not bad either. I enjoyed it and liked the characters. Am starting the second one in the series, so it will be interesting to see if the plot gets better.
