Since We Fell follows Rachel Childs, a former journalist who, after an on-air mental breakdown, now lives as a virtual shut-in. In all other respects, however, she enjoys an ideal life with an ideal husband. Until a chance encounter on a rainy afternoon causes that ideal life to fray. As does Rachel’s marriage. As does Rachel herself. Sucked into a conspiracy thick with deception, violence, and possibly madness, Rachel must find the strength within herself to conquer unimaginable fears and mind-altering truths. By turns heart- breaking, suspenseful, romantic, and sophisticated, Since We Fell is a novel of profound psychological insight and tension. It is Dennis Lehane at his very best.
Enjoyed it I really enjoyed this book. The plot went all over the place and then came back together at the end … and I think this could turn into another Lehane series, which would be great. The characters were pretty good – as always, the women are always hot and the men are studly, which gets old, but they were also interesting.
Nope. A bit of a disappointment, like Michael Connelly’s latest. These terrific writers get famous, a couple of their books get made into movies, and they think they can relax the disciplined plotting that made them good in the first place. Come on, you guys — either stay in shape or take your well-deserved retirement.Â
A most unimaginative, boring waste of time I really looked forward to reading Lehanes new book which is a complete disappointment. It appears to be the result of too much famed making the author think he can slap any old bits and pieces together to form a novel. He can’t.Â
