With the right motive, anyone can be a killer.
Caring for Ironwood is a dream come true for Cage Foster. The dream doesn’t last long when a skeleton is found buried beneath the antebellum home. The unearthing of two additional fresh bodies quickly turns into a nightmare that could land him on Mississippi’s death row.
Newcomer Dani Evans, a pushy Yankee specialist in historical renovation, is the only person certain of his innocence. She’s convinced the legend of Ironwood’s treasure cache is the motive for the murders. Cage believes the killer is someone with an old grudge, and the evidence against Cage is mounting fast.
Can Dani find the truth before Cage is arrested? Her search for answers uncovers a descent into madness that should have stayed buried.
Great book Interesting characters, several with surprises. I was really surprised at who the culprit was. The book kept you interested. Would recommend.
Unneccesary language & explicit sex Loved the setting. As a Southerner I appreciated the detail of things & the hope of restoration. The story was well told, but the swearing was excessive. I don’t personally swear, but I realize others do. I just felt like it was way overdone in the book. Surely there are better & more descriptive ways of telling a story than filling it with SOBs and how everything is damned all the time.Â
Surprisingly good I’m shocked…at myself. This is not the sort of book I usually read, but I’ve got to tell you, once I picked it up I simply could not put it down until I finished it.Â
