Professor Theo Cray is trained to see patterns where others see chaos. So when mutilated bodies found deep in the Montana woods leave the cops searching blindly for clues, Theo sees something they missed. Something unnatural. Something only he can stop.
As a computational biologist, Theo is more familiar with digital code and microbes than the dark arts of forensic sleuthing. But a field trip to Montana suddenly lands him in the middle of an investigation into the bloody killing of one of his former students. As more details, and bodies, come to light, the local cops determine that the killer is either a grizzly gone rogue…or Theo himself. Racing to stay one step ahead of the police, Theo must use his scientific acumen to uncover the killer. Will he be able to become as cunning as the predator he hunts—before he becomes its prey?

The protagonist does some things in the book that are so incredibly dumb, that several times I shut my Kindle and thought about giving up on the book. At other times, he does things that are so inexorably unbelievable (like looking out over a field an knowing immediately where the dead girls’s body is buried) that, you guessed it, I shut my Kindle and thought about giving up on the book. I actually did finish it, but in general was NOT satisfied that…
Sherlock Holmes meets Michael Crichton One of the best things to come through Amazon Prime – I am so happy I downloaded this one. I started reading it this morning (a cool windy day) and despite a run for coffee and bagels, finished it this afternoon. If you like Sherlock Holmes or Michael Crichton books you’ll like the main character and the story. A lot of fun.
The ending!!! This was an amazing thriller! Definitely the best I’ve read in a while.Â
