“As a Man Thinketh” is a literary essay by James Allen, published in 1903. It was described by Allen as “… dealing with the power of thought, and particularly with the use and application of thought to happy and beautiful issues. Allen has tried to make the book simple, so that all can easily grasp and follow its teaching, and put into practice the methods which it advises. It shows how, in his own thought—world, each man holds the key to every condition, good or bad, that enters into his life, and that, by working patiently and intelligently upon his thoughts, he may remake his life, and transform his circumstances. It was also described by Allen as “A book that will help you to help yourself”, “A pocket companion for thoughtful people”, and “A book on the power and right application of thought.
This book transformed my life This book has a special place in my heart. It is after all the book that transformed my life a decade ago. I don’t just recommend this book, I would make it mandatory.Â
Stimulating Read In some way this small work seems to bridge between philosophy, spirituality and cognitive science. Despite the language used and the air of self-help indulgence popularized be Allen and others at the turn of the century past.Â
One of the BEST. I was a little turned off by the writing style in the beginning but man I am glad I continued. One of the best motivational self-help books I have ever read. Another reviewer called it his bible and I feel the same way. It’s right up there with The Power of Your Sub-Conscious Mind buy Joseph Murphy. This is no exaggeration but almost every sentence in this book is an absolute gem and can stand alone. If you get through the book in a couple of days you aren’t doing it justice. I can’t…
