A beautiful collection of some of Father Tim’s favorite quotes and a great companion to the Mitford series by the bestselling author of At Home in Mitford and Somebody Safe with Somebody Good
Written in Father Tim Kavanagh’s own hand, this wonderful collection of quotes brings to life the personal reflections of Mitford’s beloved Episcopal priest. Here Father Tim has carefully recorded his favorite quotes from a variety of thinkers, philosophers, and poets whom he has admired over the years. Next to the quotes are Father Tim’s personal comments, scribblings, and doodlings. From C. S. Lewis and Mark Twain to Aristophanes and St. Paul, these heartwarming words on love, life, and faith are a perfect addition to the Mitford series–and a must-have for Jan Karon’s millions of readers.
Further inspirational and uplifting quotes are collected in a second volume, A Continual Feast.
I’m glad she wrote this! I’m a huge Jan Karon fan. This is going to be a great book to give as a Christmas gift to family and friends, sort of a condensing of a lot of the wisdom I’ve read in all her books. I’m also a prodigious fan of Homer Hickam, perfect for Jan fans who hunger for stories of small towns, great characters, and chuckles and tears. Just finished Homer’s Sky of Stone. Wow, is all I can say. Two great series – Mitford and Coalwood forever!
This book is a must have! My copy arrived on September 12 – the day after the “Attack on America.” What a blessing. For those of you who have read all of Jan Karon’s Mitford series and admired her work, owning this book is a must! Throughout the series, Father Timothy Kavanagh has shared his wisdom and his heart through quotes for the famous and not-so-famous. This book is a collection of thoughts forloving and living. Thank you, Father Tim.
Jan Karon is a blessing … I stumbled on the Mitford series a few years ago and have since recommended, loaned and purchased these books for many family members, friends and friends of friends. What an oasis of serenity, wisdom and spirituality Ms. Karon’s books offer in an ocean of uncertainty. She doesn’t avoid life’s challenges (friendship, love, death, illness, alcoholism, homelessness, for example), but addresses them in a way that gives readers hope for their own lives. “Patches of Godlight” is a book…
