A collection of 156 poems, some very short, and 90 personal musings, listed as “quotes.” Raw and unfiltered, often painful, frequently tinged with humor, this unique work reveals the intimate details of a young woman’s life struggle: defeats and victories, setbacks and growth, insights gained, dreams lost, hopes recaptured. A bold debut from a promising new talent.
Finally something fresh! Been waiting a long time for someone to bring poetry back from its grave! The quotes section is a great book to pull out for quick laughs and to open up conversation when entertaining.
I bought this book because I heard Sunny Rey’s work at a poetry reading in San Diego. It’s so intense, putting words to emotions that most of us cannot express. If you read straight through from the beginning to the end, you can see this author’s growth from teen to marriage, to young mother, to divorce, to a rebuilt life. She makes something as mundane as going to the grocery store a feast for the emotions. I hope she publishes more books in the future. I’m a fan.
A Welcomed Resurrection! This debut collection of poems and quotes is a fresh and modern take on the poetry from the Beat Generation. The fact that most of the poetry from that time was written by men hasn’t discouraged Sunny Rey, she has written something that is as thought provoking and emotionally driven as the legends who have proceeded her.She is on the rise and definitely a poet you should keep an eye on. I expect many many amazing works to follow from her.
