The saying and parables of Sri Ramakrishna included in this volume speak for themselves as far as their spiritual value and philosophic depth are concerned. The stamp of genius they bear cannot escape the notice of even a casual reader. The sayings are culled from all the available sources, arranged by subject. An exhaustive collection. Includes full biography of Ramakrishna.
divine utterances of one of the most advanced of our species Ramakrishna was an unparalleled spiritual genius. In this venerable “best of” anthology of his sayings, first published by the Ramakrishna Math in Calcutta in the mid-twentieth century, one can find a version of many of the finest reflections and parables found in the definitive and comprehensive Ramakrishna Kathamrita, in a lightweight, ready-to-hand, portable format. What’s very helpful is that the text is divided topically and is followed by an extensive index. Also, it’s inexpensive – really one of the best book bargains I’ve ever found. I carried a beat up edition with me for years – among the best remedies for the ennui of waiting in lines, for appointments – and the craziness of this crakerjack box world in general. As for a measure of the depth of Ramakrishna – that, even were it possible to obtain – we would be unable to report.
Best collection of Sri Ramakrishna’s divine words I just started to read this book. It’s a collection of short (some long) paragraphs straight from Sri Ramakrishna’s own divine words! You can simply browse through pages and read whichever one your eyes feel like reading! it’s a blessing. I own a very old copy of this book that was printed in Madras, India and i bought a copy here as a gift. Here is the first one from the first chapter named “Man”; title is “The Destiny of Man””You see many stars in the sky at night, but not whenthe sun rises. Can you therefore say that there are nostars in the heavens during the day? O man, becauseyou cannot find God in the days of your ignorance, saynot that there is no God.”Isn’t it wonderful?
