The first book of daily readings for all kids guides young people through a whole year of positive thinking and practical lifeskills.

Each reading addresses an issue important to adolescents and teens—making choices and making friends, laughter and learning, feelings and families. Inspiring quotations, brief essays, and affirmations encourage kids to think more deeply about themselves and their world; to take positive actions and make positive changes; and to grow in self-esteem and emotional health—the keys to making the most of every day.

  1. Great daily readings. I bought this book to use in Life Skills class at an alternative high school. Some readings are just a minute to read. Others spark discussion. I would also recommend it as a daily meditation for individuals.

  2. Making the Most of Today I’ve used this book in my special education classroom and now in my school counseling program—students gravitate toward it! It’s moving and thought provoking! I love having this book as a resource on my shelf!

  3. Makes the most of tomorrow too! An otherwise boisterous group of 12 and 13 year olds sit silently when I read the daily passage from this book to the 7th grade homeroom. Now I don’t even have to tell them to listen. I just open the book and start reading, and they quiet each other down. We enjoy the quotes, reflect on the explanations, and often refer back to a previously read page when someone needs encouragement or a fresh perspective. This is the sort of book that has the power to instil positive ethics and character in the young people of today, while building their self esteem and problem solving strategies. It fosters positive communication and acceptance of diversity. It came with the classroom I inherited mid-year, but I’ll be buying several copies to give as gifts.
