Written with input from director Rian Johnson, this official adaptation of Star Wars: The Last Jedi expands on the film to include scenes from alternate versions of the script and other additional content.

From the ashes of the Empire has arisen another threat to the galaxy’s freedom: the ruthless First Order. Fortunately, new heroes have emerged to take up arms – and perhaps lay down their lives – for the cause. Rey, the orphan strong in the Force; Finn, the ex-stormtrooper who stands against his former masters; and Poe Dameron, the fearless X-wing pilot, have been drawn together to fight side-by-side with General Leia Organa and the Resistance. But the First Order’s Supreme Leader Snoke and his merciless enforcer Kylo Ren are adversaries with superior numbers and devastating firepower at their command. Against this enemy, the champions of light may finally be facing their extinction. Their only hope rests with a lost legend: Jedi Master Luke Skywalker.

Where the action of Star Wars: The Force Awakens ended, Star Wars: The Last Jedi begins, as the battle between light and dark climbs to astonishing new heights.

  1. Movie is better than book, but nothing post-Disney buy is strong enough to justify completely ignoring the well established Solo/Skywalker families. I have been open minded. There’s just nothing powerful enough to compensate for flushing over 3 decades of story telling that followed marriages for both Han and Leia, but also for Luke and Mara Jade. The Solo children, twins Jacen and Jaina, then Anakin, grew up as major parts of the storylines. Luke’s son, Ben (yes, Ben is Luke’s son who does not go to the dark side), though he has his moments. The movies would have been so much better if they based them on material from the original Star…

  2. I absolutely love this story in all its forms I absolutely love this story in all its forms. The book has different details than the movie, but it really does a better job capturing the character of Kylo Ren and Rey. The first novel didn’t seem like it captured the characters. But this one did! And I love the explanation as to why Leia was able to use the force to get back to the Raddus.

  3. Imperfectly Delightful I was a huge fan of The Last Jedi film and anxiously awaited the novelization, devouring it in less than a day. It was highly entertaining and more enjoyable than TFA novelization. That being said, it isn’t perfect. Some places felt terribly rushed, while others felt needlessly drawn out. The author seems to favor technical explanation over dives into character thoughts and emotions, which some may prefer but I do not. I would have appreciated some deeper insight into what we saw on the screen…
