Great early sci-fi This was a really interesting book to read. Of course the sci-fi characteristics are a bit dated by today’s cinematic standards, but you can’t be in that frame of mind when you read an old classic like this. You have to put yourself in that time period and imagine what it would be like if something like this were to happen to really get the full scope of terror it would invoke. The first person character seems a bit detached from the gravity of what is going on, but I suppose that could be part…
Still a great story Still Well’s greatest literary achievement, it tells a story that’s gripping, human, and powerful. Imitated a zillion different times in a zillion different ways, there’s still something primal and evocative about this story.Â
Finally a Science Fiction Classic Worthy of the Name Several of the science fiction “classics” I have read recently have proven to be rather less than classic for me. However, War of the Worlds is not one of them. I found it to be enjoyable, interesting, with an ability to keep me interested and engaged.Â
