  1. Great early sci-fi This was a really interesting book to read. Of course the sci-fi characteristics are a bit dated by today’s cinematic standards, but you can’t be in that frame of mind when you read an old classic like this. You have to put yourself in that time period and imagine what it would be like if something like this were to happen to really get the full scope of terror it would invoke. 2. Still a great story Still Well’s greatest literary achievement, it tells a story that’s gripping, human, and powerful. Imitated a zillion different times in a zillion different ways, there’s still something primal and evocative about this story.
