#1 New York Times bestselling author Lee Goldberg hits the ground running in a breakneck thriller where truth and fiction collide for the unluckiest writer alive.
When a passenger jet crashes onto the beaches of Waikiki, bestselling thriller writer Ian Ludlow knows the horrific tragedy wasn’t an accident.
Years before, the CIA enlisted Ian to dream up terrorism scenarios to prepare the government for nightmares they couldn’t imagine. Now one of those schemes has come true, and Ian is the only person alive who knows how it was done…and who is behind the plot. That makes him too dangerous to live.
Ian goes on the run, sweeping up an innocent bystander in his plight – Margo French, a dog walker and aspiring singer. They are pursued by assassins and an all-seeing global-intelligence network that won’t stop until Ian and Margo are dead. Ian has written thrillers like this before, but this time he doesn’t know how it’s going to end – or if he will be alive to find out.
No spoilers here, pick this one if you like ridiculous action/comedy thrillers and don’t take yourself too seriously. Wow, this was one of the most ridiculous books I’ve read in a long time. Full of cliches, cheesy lines, and implausible scenarios, I actually rolled my eyes while reading several times… and I loved every minute of it. Spoiler-free review of a fun enjoyable read This story has the pacing, action and believability of a comic book. I like that the author doesn’t take himself too seriously. It allows for the plot to unfold in a nice, fun carefree manner. If you are a stickler for intricate plots, deep character development and totally plausible scenarios even if only by a razor’s margin, you probably won’t like this story much or at all. If you find fun, absurd movies like the Fast and Furious franchise or John Wick series entertaining, you’ll like this…
I almost DNF’d, then I realized right before my brain broke that … True Fiction is a spoof. I thought you should know that right off the bat, since I was a little slow catching on and was really wondering. I might blame that on choosing this book at 2:45 am and the fact it was listed as a thriller, but… maybe I was just slow. So, it’s a spoof – a very funny spoof/thriller. Think Naked Gun meets Jack Reacher meets Kingpin. Yes, True Fiction is replete with low brow humor, over the top sex scenes done for humor, tinfoil hats, sex dolls, cursing, puns and other…
