Tribe of Mentors: Short Life Advice from the Best in the World
Tim Ferriss, the #1 New York Times best-selling author of The 4-Hour Workweek, shares the ultimate choose-your-own-adventure book—a compilation of tools, tactics, and habits from 130+ of the world’s top performers. From iconic entrepreneurs to elite athletes, from artists to billionaire investors, their short profiles can help you answer life’s most challenging questions, achieve extraordinary results, and transform your life.
From the author:
In 2017, several of my close friends died in rapid succession. It was a very hard year, as it was for many people.
It was also a stark reminder that time is our scarcest, non-renewable resource.
With a renewed sense of urgency, I began asking myself many questions:
Were my goals my own, or simply what I thought I should want?
How much of life had I missed from underplanning or overplanning?
How could I be kinder to myself?
How could I better say “no” to the trivial many to better say “yes” to the critical few?
How could I best reassess my priorities and my purpose in this world?
To find answers, I reached out to the most impressive world-class performers in the world, ranging from wunderkinds in their 20s to icons in their 70s and 80s. No stone was left unturned.
This book contains their answers—practical and tactical advice from mentors who have found solutions. Whether you want to 10x your results, get unstuck, or reinvent yourself, someone else has traveled a similar path and taken notes.
This book, Tribe of Mentors, includes many of the people I grew up viewing as idols or demi-gods. Less than 10% have been on my podcast (The Tim Ferriss Show, more than 200 million downloads), making this a brand-new playbook of playbooks.
No matter your challenge or opportunity, something in these pages can help.
Among other things, you will learn:
• More than 50 morning routines—both for the early riser and those who struggle to get out of bed.
• How TED curator Chris Anderson realized that the best way to get things done is to let go.
• The best purchases of $100 or less (you’ll never have to think about the right gift again).
• How to overcome failure and bounce back towards success.
• Why Humans of New York creator Brandon Stanton believes that the best art will always be the riskiest.
• How to meditate and be more mindful (and not just for those that find it easy).
• Why tennis champion Maria Sharapova believe that “losing makes you think in ways victories can’t.”
• How to truly achieve work-life balance (and why most people tell you it isn’t realistic).
• How billionaire Facebook co-founder Dustin Moskovitz transformed the way he engages with difficult situations to reduce suffering.
• Ways to thrive (and survive) the overwhelming amount of information you process every day.
• How to achieve clarity on your purpose and assess your priorities.
• And much more.
This reference book, which I wrote for myself, has already changed my life. I certainly hope the same for you.
I wish you luck as you forge your own path.
All the best,
Tim Ferriss
Say It See It Believe It: The Self-Esteem Affirmation Activity Journal For Girls To Read & Do With Their Mothers
How would you like to feel more confident on the inside and build the kind of self-esteem that will keep you feeling positive toward yourself no matter what challenges come your way? Well, it’s possible if you learn how to make your words work for you. Believe it or not, your words have a lot of power. Your words have the power to build you up, and your words have the power to discourage you, depending on how you use them. This is why it is so important that you learn how to use your words to build high self-esteem and develop a positive outlook on life. Say It See It Believe It is an affirmation activity journal for girls to read with their mothers. It will show you how to use the power of your words to think bigger, recognize your value and dream beyond any limits that others have placed on you or that you have placed on yourself. What’s more, it will show your mom as well as any other caregivers in your life how to support you in building healthy self-esteem and inner resilience. So what are affirmations? Simply put, affirmations are positive statements designed to help you do three things: 1. Think and act more positively toward yourself. 2. Instill calm during stressful times. 3. Activate your mind to pump you up with so much positive motivation and inner confidence that you actually begin to believe the best about yourself and as a result start taking steps in the direction of your desired outcomes. Why should you read this book with your mother? Because the more support that you have in building your self-confidence and inner resilience from people who truly care about you, the more you’ll realize how special and valuable you are and that you have what it takes to succeed in life. What if your mom is not around? Then read and do the affirmation activity journal with a concerned caregiver who wants the best for you or a person whom you look to as a mother-figure. Say It See It Believe It contains four sections: 1.) The Affirmation – this is the positive statement that you are going to say to yourself as many times as you need to say it until you pump yourself up with so much positive self-talk that you actually begin to believe it and act on it. 2.) Why It Works – this explains how the affirmation will benefit you. 3.) Memos for Moms – these are tips to help your mother or caregiver support you in building stronger self-confidence and resilience. 4.) Journal Space – this is exactly what it sounds like…a space where you can write about anything you want. You can write a song, poem, what you think about each affirmation. You can place stickers in this section or anything else that you desire. Also included in this book are activities for mothers and daughters to do together. Say It See It Believe It will show you how to use the power of positive self-affirmation to help you develop a winning mindset so that you can become a more positive, empowered you.

Motivation: Biological, Psychological, and Environmental
This textbook provides a complete overview of motivation and emotion, using an overarching organizational scheme of how biological, psychological, and environmental sources become motivation―the inducement of behavior, feelings, and cognition. It combines classic studies with current research and uses numerous real-world examples to engage the student and make often-difficult theoretical concepts come to life. By understanding and applying the principles of motivation described in the text, students will not only discover insights into what motivates their own behavior but also how to instigate self-change.
Thoroughly revised and updated throughout, this fifth edition provides a major review of recent research, with over 225 new references, including expansion in the areas of goal motivation and emotion psychology. Other updated topics include new findings and interpretations on how evolution affects our preferences, how personality traits determine motivation, and how self-control depends on a cost/benefit analysis. The addition of individual chapter glossaries and an increased number of links to additional resources supplement student learning. This textbook is suitable as a primary text for courses on motivation.

Great leaders inspire action with their words. They spark enthusiasm and commitment. With a single conversation, they can change the direction of someone’s life.
Everyone wants to be the kind of leader who energizes and mobilizes others – yet too few are. Why is it so challenging to crack the code?
Executive coach Kristi Hedges spent years studying exactly what inspiring leaders do differently. Informed by quantitative research and thousands of responses from leaders at all levels, she reveals that inspiring communication isn’t about grand gestures. Instead, those who motivate us most do a few things routinely, consistently, and intentionally. Inspirational people are:
PRESENT: investing their full attention and letting conversations flow
PERSONAL: speaking genuinely, listening generously, and acknowledging the potential of those around them
PASSIONATE: exhibiting sincere emotion and exuding energy attuned to the situation
PURPOSEFUL: helping others find meaning and see their place in the bigger picture
Eye-opening and accessible, The Inspiration Code dispels common myths about how leaders communicate – and guides them in cultivating qualities that authentically excite.
Inspired companies need inspirational leaders. Learn to unlock motivation, lift peoples’ sights, and lead them into the future.
