Great leaders inspire action with their words. They spark enthusiasm and commitment. With a single conversation, they can change the direction of someone’s life.
Everyone wants to be the kind of leader who energizes and mobilizes others – yet too few are. Why is it so challenging to crack the code?
Executive coach Kristi Hedges spent years studying exactly what inspiring leaders do differently. Informed by quantitative research and thousands of responses from leaders at all levels, she reveals that inspiring communication isn’t about grand gestures. Instead, those who motivate us most do a few things routinely, consistently, and intentionally. Inspirational people are:
PRESENT: investing their full attention and letting conversations flow
PERSONAL: speaking genuinely, listening generously, and acknowledging the potential of those around them
PASSIONATE: exhibiting sincere emotion and exuding energy attuned to the situation
PURPOSEFUL: helping others find meaning and see their place in the bigger picture
Eye-opening and accessible, The Inspiration Code dispels common myths about how leaders communicate – and guides them in cultivating qualities that authentically excite.
Inspired companies need inspirational leaders. Learn to unlock motivation, lift peoples’ sights, and lead them into the future.
Be a better leader Outstanding approach to leadership. Lofty? Yes. Doable? Double Yes. Do yourself a favor if you’re a leader and read this book, it will make a big difference in how you lead.
Great advice for anyone in a leadership position This book reads like a how-to guide for leaders, and is backed by considerable research. A lot of business books are too theoretical, but this one is written by someone who has been in the trenches, which I appreciate. There are lots of examples of conversation starters, including specific phrasing to try. I found it to be a quick and very helpful read. I’ve already referred it to a few managers.
Kristi for a great read. The Power of Presence Thank you, Kristi for a great read. The Power of Presence, Kristi’s first book was easy to read and stocked full of quite useful material taht I could apply in my executive work 🙂 The inspiration code as this follows a similar style. She offers practical advice, with plenty of scenarios and tools that leaders can use. I like the well-researched aspect tucked in with plenty of grounded ideas. I have already found it a useful suggestion for teachers, coaches, and volunteer organization staff…
