“A woman’s work is to define herself,” writes award-winning slam poet Dominique Christina. While this task is important for everybody, Dominique says, “There is an urgency for women. When you have inherited a construct that names, describes, and practices an ideology that women are somehow less important, less necessary, then the work of defining yourself carries with it a kind of fury.”

Every woman is composed of many selves—archetypal players of the psyche who contribute their voices to her greater “I.” This Is Woman’s Work introduces us to our council of inner women, delving into the secret wisdom and gifts of the Willing Woman, the Rebel, the Shapeshifter, the Warrior, and more. Combining writing exercises with fresh and dynamic insights, Dominique helps us make an intimate connection with each inner woman—known and unknown, loved and feared—so we may integrate their voices, realize their wisdom, and open ourselves to our full expression and power.

Beautiful Poetry and Opportunities for Introspection! A wonderful exploration of what it means to be a woman it today’s world. It contains her interpretations of different aspects of womanhood, and also suggested writing exercises for the reader to explore what each facet means to herself.

Golden! This is a fabulous, thoughtful book. I received it as a gift, and it is so golden I have purchased several to give my favorite people as gifts. Reading this makes me wonder if people with multiple personality disorders are really the honest people, because they let each personality take them over, where the rest of us try to maintain a delicate balance.of personalities.

An inspiring guide to writing and self exploration This book awakens the magic within, unleashing the power of all the different types of women we can be. The breakdown of each chapter into a different archetype is an interesting and helpful way to understand different sides of self, and the writing exercises force you to look into your mind and dust off memories that you haven’t touched for years. I found this an inspiring guide to further my writing, and to further my journey of self exploration.
