SO not for me I cannot express how much I disliked this book. I have been a student of yoga for over ten years, and though I have only been teaching for three years, it is something I am truly passionate about and I like to approach it thoughtfully. I was hopeful this book would be a great way to discover how to more powerfully incorporate themes to my practice, but instead read pages and pages of trite and cutesy ramblings about yoga “branding” and cheesy acronyms.I feel that there is an audience for this book, but I am clearly not it. Ultimately I guess I was hoping for a more student-centered book, rather than a teacher-centered one. If you are a yoga teacher who feels that bringing yoga into people’s lives is a way to help them live their greatest lives by eliminating the ego that so often holds us back, this book may drive you as crazy as it drove me. Throughout this book, I found myself frequently questioning the author’s intentions, as she so often referenced her tips and advice…

A Must for all Yoga Teachers Theme Weaver is fabulous! I love whatever Michelle writes. She has a special way of expressing herself with logic, clearity, humor, and she comes from a true yoga heart. This needs to be a required text for anyone in a yoga teacher training program. None of this was taught in my teacher training 9 years ago. Therefore, I recommend this book to teachers who certified a while ago as well- read it and apply its wisdom, too. Our mission, as teachers, is to inspire a passion for practice in our students. This book has the potential to make every teacher a better teacher. Now it is up to us. Let us make great use of the gift of wisdom Michelle has given us. Thank you, once again, Michelle, for another amazing book.

A Yoga Teacher’s Theme Come True A good teacher training will take time to break down how to intelligently sequence the physical aspect of a class, but very rarely will the training take time to break down what intelligently theming a class looks like in its entirety. Theme Weaver does just that – discussing the many ways to search for themes in every day life, finding ways to apply it within your teaching without sounding like a broken record for 75 minutes, and how to develop the theme throughout a class, expanding it in a way that invokes insight and invites thoughtful consideration amongst students.I’m a huge nerd when it comes to developing a theme for my yoga classes, and this book has given me access to a whole other layer of tools for turning my passion for story-telling into successful themes in my yoga classes.
