The Pink Hat

Celebrate the 2017 Women’s March with this charming and empowering picture book about a pink hat and the budding feminist who finds it.

Here is a clever story that follows the journey of a pink hat that is swiped out of a knitting basket by a pesky kitten, blown into a tree by a strong wind, and used as a cozy blanket for a new baby, then finally makes its way onto the head of a young girl marching for women’s equality.

Inspired by the 5 million people (many of them children) in 82 countries who participated in the 2017 Women’s March, Andrew Joyner has given us a book that celebrates girls and women and equal rights for all!

With themes of empathy, equality, and solidarity, The Pink Hat is a timeless and timely story that will empower readers and promote strength in the diverse and active feminist community.

No Difference Between Us: Teaching children about gender equality, respectful relationships, feelings, choice, self-esteem, empathy, tolerance, and acceptance

Jess and Ben are twins. Jess is a girl and Ben is a boy but in all the BIG ways, there is NO difference between them!

Explore with the children in your care the important issues of gender equality and respectful relationships. Combining cheerful illustrations and a simple but effective narrative, this book will help children to understand that, fundamentally, there is no difference between us.

This book encourages equality and respect for each other from the earliest of years. In order to reduce gender-based violence we need to teach gender equality and respectful relationships to young children. What better way than through a picture storybook? Children are visual learners and the match between illustration and text in this story will assist them to understand that we are all human — everyone feels, and everyone has hopes and dreams. Our gender should be and needs to be irrelevant.

Throughout the text, open-ended questions are provided on each spread so children have the opportunity to talk about their own experiences — allowing the child to have a voice. There are more in-depth Discussion Questions on pages 30 and 31 encouraging the reader and the child to think about each scenario, and engage with the message.

“We’re all people with feelings, aspirations and dreams . . . no better or worse . . . it’s the little differences that make us unique but it doesn’t change the big ways that we are the same.”
Susannah Low Designer and mother of two daughters

Empowerment: The Art of Creating Your Life as You Want It

Now in its 11th printing, and translated into eight languages, Empowerment: The Art of Creating Your Life As You Want It is widely considered to be a classic in the field of personal empowerment and transformation. Much more than a collection of inspiring principles, the book guides readers step-by-step through a systematic self-transformation program addressing seven key areas of life: relationships, sexuality, money, work, body, emotions and spirituality. Empowerment is based on its authors’ two decades of work helping thousands of people create the life of their dreams. Its simple premise–that our thoughts and beliefs create the conditions of our life–is illustrated with anecdotes from each of the seven areas. Readers are then given practical and immediately applicable tools to help envision and create what they wish to achieve in each of these areas. With over 60,000 copies sold, and with America’s interest in self-transformation growing every day, Empowerment promises to be a strong title for years to come.

Empowerment: Understanding the Theory Behind Empowerment

Social groups seek to empower their members, corporations are discovering the benefits of empowering their employees, and organizations seek to empower groups and individuals so that these groups can gain control of their lives and be successful. Empowerment efforts fall under the categories of social empowerment, structural empowerment, or psychological empowerment. This book gives the theoretical background for each aspect of empowerment and lays the foundation for an integrated model of empowerment developed by the author. The information from this book comes out of the author’s doctoral research on empowerment. His research found that there is a body of work regarding social, structural, and psychological empowerment, but there are no integrated empowerment models that include all three aspects of empowerment. Additionally, little research into divine empowerment has been conducted. “Divine empowerment” is addressed in this book and provides the foundation for a four phased integrated empowerment model that includes the social, structural, psychological, and divine aspects of empowerment.
