Her Last Word
An unsolved crime pits a desperate woman against a relentless killer in New York Times bestselling author Mary Burton’s heart-stopping novel of psychological suspense…
Fourteen years ago, Kaitlin Roe was the lone witness to the abduction of her cousin Gina. She still remembers that lonely Virginia road. She can still see the masked stranger and hear Gina’s screams. And she still suffers the guilt of running away in fear and resents being interrogated as a suspect in the immediate aftermath. Now Kaitlin has only one way to assuage the pain and nightmares-by interviewing everyone associated with the unsolved crime for a podcast that could finally bring closure to a case gone cold.
But when a woman Kaitlin questions is later found stabbed to death, she fears that she’s drawn a killer out of hiding. It’s Detective John Adler’s fear that the murders have only just begun. Now his job is to keep Kaitlin safe.
As a bond between Kaitlin and Adler builds, the past closes in just as fast-and it’s darker than Kaitlin remembers. Soon, her wish will come true. She’s going to find out exactly what happened to Gina. Someone has been dying to tell her.
Pinstripe Quotes: The Wit and Wisdom of the New York Yankees
Was it Babe Ruth who said it best when he once remarked, “Baseball was, is, and always will be to me the best game in the world”? Or Mickey Mantle when he channeled Lou Gehrig during his 1969 farewell address: “I never knew how someone dying could say he was the luckiest man in the world. But now I understand”? Since the New York Highlanders became the New York Yankees in 1913, this dynamic franchise has captured the hearts and minds of fans across the nation. But for all the glory garnered by the men in pinstripes, their advice, wisdom, and passion has never been given a voice until now.
Pinstripe Quotes is a unique collection of quotes, stories, and historic anecdotes as spoken by the players themselves, and the men and women who knew them best. Where else will fans learn Lou Gehrig’s thoughts on racial discrimination, or Derek Jeter’s penchant for singing out loud when no one else is around? What Yankees fan won’t relish reliving the team’s first World Series victory through the eyes of the sportswriters and cheering crowds who were there? A franchise with over a century of triumph, tragedy, and unflinching determination, the players of the New York Yankees have the sayings and words of wisdom that will carry fans through anything—from a rough day at work, to the best way to celebrate a World Series victory. Black Woman, Just Get Your Hair Wet!: Self-Empowerment to Reach Your Divine Potential
When’s the last time you got your hair wet? Not while in the shower or at a beauty salon. I’m not even talking about the last time you went swimming. What I’m referring to is a metaphor for life. A metaphor for all those things we don’t do because it’s just one of those things Black Woman don’t do. Like getting help for depression. Because of the self-imposed limitations, I put on myself as a Black Woman, I had to learn some life lessons the hard way and more importantly delayed my potential. That’s why I wrote this book. Whether you struggle with your self-image, faith, finances, branding or relationships (and who hasn’t struggled with those at some point?!), I’m hoping that this book will show you where you may have been “scared to get your hair wet” in the sense of stepping out, diving in and reaching your divine potential. It is a self-discovery guide to unlearn old habits, break down barriers and acknowledge the powerful influence you have on others for today’s black women. So, take out a weekend. Read a couple of chapters. Look within and challenge yourself with the journal that I’ve enclosed and let’s all GET OUR HAIR WET—for our sake, our daughters and also to help other sistahs do the same!

The Darkest Place
The cold of winter has come to the far reaches of Long Island, New York. The summer people are gone. So is the sunshine. And in the dark, a man carries a body to the water’s edge. It’s not his first–and he’s not done yet…
The police are talking about suicides. But a handful of people suspect something darker is going on. One is a college teacher drowning himself in booze and dangerous sex. One is a former high school football star who wants a second chance. And between them is a mysterious private investigator who believes that a beautiful, amoral young woman is connected to the killings.
Soon, things will spin out of control. Clues will point in all the wrong directions. Then, it will be up to a few lost souls–men and women who know all about monsters–to bring a killer into the light….
